Welcome to our blog!

The Washington AIDS Partnership Service Corps is a team of 12 service members dedicated to service related to HIV/AIDS in Washington, DC. Four days a week, we serve at HIV/AIDS related non profits, and on Wednesdays we come together to volunteer around the city. In the past we have volunteered at Martha's Table, Whitman-Walker Health, the National Arboretum, and other sites around the city.

Between the 12 of us, we serve at 10 different agencies throughout the week:

- N Street Village
- Food & Friends
- HIPS
- Joseph's House
- La Clinica del Pueblo
- Latin American Youth Center
- Metro TeenAIDS
- HAHSTA
- Whitman Walker Health
- Sasha Bruce

Team DC had a couple of cool highlights from the past week. Our own John T. did some direct-service work at Food & Friends with oh, you know, the President of the United States. NBD...

John rubbing elbows with world leaders

We were all psyched to see John representing AmeriCorps in such a high-profile way.

This past weekend, Team DC also volunteered at the Capital Tennis Association's Capital Classic XXI Tournament. The tournament raises money for various LGBT organizations around DC. This year, Team DC will be one of the recipients. Our team helped pass out tennis balls, water bottles, sign-in players and all that other good stuff. On Saturday, Sarah (who also played in the tournament with our boss!), gave a phenomenal speech at the banquet on Saturday night. She spoke of the impact our team has already had on the communities we serve (and the impact those communities have already made on us). She managed to sneak a few great jokes in there, as well!

All-in-all, we had a great week. We'll definitely be sure to keep everyone posted on our happenings and updates.
